Set on the first floor at George & Dragon two Michelin-starred chefs, Tom Brown and Brad Carter, come together in a celebration of ultimate creativity.
Island lives on the first floor of the George & Dragon, a Grade II-listed Victorian pub on St John Street in Clerkenwell. Downstairs is a proper pub in its own right, so you can start with a drink at the bar before heading upstairs to eat with us.
Brad Carter is the Michelin-starred chef behind Carters of Moseley, known for his pioneering approach to British produce and sustainability. Entirely self-taught, Brad has built a reputation for nose-to-tail cooking, rare breed preservation, and a dedication to showcasing British terroir. Alongside his acclaimed restaurant, he has launched the cult One Star Döner Bar, collaborated with leading producers across the UK, and become a regular presence on television and live food stages.
We do. Our menus include a strong selection of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free dishes, and we’re happy to accommodate most dietary needs such as Halal. Please just let us know 3 days ahead of your booking.
Island is on the first floor of George & Dragon and is accessed by stairs, with no lift available. We’re sorry we can’t currently offer step-free access to this level. The George & Dragon pub downstairs is accessible at street level. Please contact us ahead of your visit to discuss any access needs.
While we love hosting the whole family, dogs aren’t permitted on the first floor.
We partner with a carefully selected network of suppliers from the UK and beyond, sourcing seasonal produce chosen for its quality and flavour.

We do. Island is an ideal setting for large groups and private dining, with exclusive hire available across the first floor of George & Dragon. Parking is available in the surrounding area, though we also recommend travelling by public transport where possible. Angel and Farringdon stations are both a short walk away.
