Inspired by the rugged beauty of our small islands and the ingredients it offers, rooted in our chefs’ travels together and a passion for British produce, we showcase the finest organic meats, wild fish, and seasonal ingredients from the shores and pastures of the UK & beyond.
Set on the first floor at Mare Street Market King’s Cross, two Michelin-starred chefs, Tom Brown and Brad Carter, come together in a celebration of ultimate creativity.
Brad Carter is the Michelin-starred chef behind Carters of Moseley, known for his pioneering approach to British produce and sustainability. Entirely self-taught, Brad has built a reputation for nose-to-tail cooking, rare breed preservation, and a dedication to showcasing British terroir. Alongside his acclaimed restaurant, he has launched the cult One Star Döner Bar, collaborated with leading producers across the UK, and become a regular presence on television and live food stages.
We do. Our menus include a strong selection of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free dishes, and we’re happy to accommodate most dietary needs such as Halal. Please just let us know 3 days ahead of your booking.
We provide step-free access throughout the ground floor, with lift access available to Island on the first floor.
While we love hosting the whole family, dogs aren’t permitted on the first floor.
We partner with a carefully selected network of suppliers from the UK and beyond, sourcing seasonal produce chosen for its quality and flavour.

We do. Island is an ideal setting for large groups and private dining, with exclusive hire available across the first floor. As part of Mare Street Market King’s Cross, we’re also able to host a wide range of larger events across the wider venue, with capacities from 50 up to 650 guests. Island’s catering can be incorporated into these events, offering a seamless food experience alongside the space. Please see more information here.
Island operates as a card-only venue, so we kindly ask guests to plan accordingly.
